Some would say that Christmas in July is nothing more than one of corporate America’s Christmas ideas and a marketing ploy. Have a look at this video courtesy of ABC News as reported by Becky Worley:
Retailers are having second thoughts about orders they placed earlier this year, when the economic recovery looked stronger and people were more willing to spend money, The Associated Press reported. Now they worry they could end up with too many toys and sweaters come the holidays and have to cut prices.
Many major retailers such as Target, Sears, and Kmart are advertising specials to get customers in their stores and or even putting up special “Christmas Lanes.” And it’s not just Christmas ornaments, holiday decorations, and Christmas tree lights on sale. Besides enticing people to buy Christmas presents early many stores are offering back-to-school items.
